The inaugural Vodafone Royals Trophy invitation golf tournament begins at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) on Thursday, bringing together 40 teams from 14 countries, including a host of clubs who have historically enjoyed royal patronage.
The trophy, replete with crests of the royal clubs from six continents, was unveiled on Wednesday. The running trophy will travel to the other royal clubs that host the event in future. A team of two amateurs will represent each club at the tournament. The format on the first two days will be general stableford and that on January 23 and 24, the main event days, will be eclectic stableford and Texas scramble, respectively.
