The Sahara India group on Wednesday applauded the performance of Indian athletes at the Commonwealth Games, saying this would set the tone for future sporting events.
The group, which is deeply involved in sports sponsorship and had employed more than 300 employees of the rank of executive directors, deputy directors, assiostant directors, and general managers for the smooth conduct of the quadrennial event, also said that it was instituting an award to motivate volunteers.
Sahara, which also played a role in the opening ceremony, said it had taken upon itself to “shore up the image of the country at this critical time”.
In a message on the eve of the closing ceremony, managing worker, Subrata Roy Sahara, said, “We took the initiative and committed ourselves to restore the nation's pride at this critical time. I believe that everyone working together in a collective manner with emotional bondage for a cause, can only deliver great results to the full satisfaction of all including around 7000 athletes, 3500 CGA delegates, VVIPs, foreign dignitaries and around 2000 journalists from across the world,” he said
“For us the CWG was a national festival. Hence it was our duty to make it a success,” said director communications, Ahibijit Sarkar.
