Upcoming shuttler PV Sindhu became the first Indian to win the Asian U-19 badminton championships when she defeated Japan’s Okuhara Nozomi 18-21 21-17 22-20 in the final in Gimcheon, Korea, on Saturday. The 17-year-old, who hails from Hyderabad and trains alongside Saina Nehwal, had finished runner-up in the event last year in Lucknow. The towering Indian was the top seed in this tournament. She is currently ranked 25th in the world among seniors.
