India’s Suranjoy Singh beat Olympic bronze medallist Vicenzo Picardi of Italy in the 51kg weight category at the President’s Cup boxing tournament in Baku.
The pugilist representing Asia-I beat Europe-I’s boxer 6-4 at the inter-continental event where top eight boxers in each weight category qualify. With the win the boxer has assured a medal.
Leading from the first round, Manipur’s Suranjoy maintained the it till the end and will face America’s Braulio Avila in the semifinal.
