Russia wants Korean skating champ Ahn Hyun-Soo to take up Russian citizenship for better prospects. A look at a few similar instances.

The three-time Olympic medallist, who had controvertially failed to make to the national team for Vancouver Olympics, is now interested in taking up Russian citizenship. He wants to be a part of the team in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Russia to Sweden
A Russian athlete who won gold for Soviet Union in 100m hurdles in 1991 World championship and competed in 1988 and 1992 olympics. But she later decided to represent Sweden and won gold in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Merlene Ottey
Jamaica to Slovenia
Had a very successful career in Jamaica, winning 3 silver and five bronze. She decided to go to Slovenia in 1998 after criticism on her below-par performance post a drug-ban. She won bronze for Slovenia in Sydney Olympics.
