Vijay keeps lead, but only just

Having dropped a shot on the 12th after starting the day from the 10th tee, Vijay Kumar strung together a hat-trick of birdies from the 14th to 16th and soldiered on for the rest of the afternoon, goading himself by saying 'c'mon VK' while walking from the fairway to the green on the seventh following a birdie on the previous hole.

By the end of the day when the shadows had lengthened on the greens, Vijay was walking off cursing himself after missing a regulation birdie putt on the final hole. It was nothing more than a bitter taste in the mouth for the overnight joint leader who was the lone man on top by then despite that.

But it did make things closer after Day 2 of the PGTI Players Championship at RCGC. Vijay was top with a tally of eight-under 136 after his round of 70, two strokes ahead of Gaganjeet Bhullar who hit another 69.

TOP- 5 SCORES: 136 V Kumar; 138 G Bhullar; 139 SSP Chowrasia, R Ali Mollah, Roop Singh; 140 R Gangjee, A Lahiri; 141 S Khan, A Sandhu, S Kumar.
