Since Father’s Day coincided with the NBA playoff finals, it denied the players, including LeBron James, the chance to spend time with his two children — LeBron James Jr and Bryce Maximus James. “It’s the final and it demands total focus,” said James on Sunday’s Game 5 against San Antonio.

With seven-match series evenly poised after Thursday, it is a must-win situation for both sides.

And James doesn’t want to go home trailing in the series. “It is time we break the jinx of not winning two games on the trot in the finals. We have another chance to win in the Spurs’ backyard,” he said.

So far, no team has won two games on the trot. The Spurs won Game 1, but Heat, the defending champions, bounced back to level the series. Game 3 went the Spurs’ way, but Heat came back to beat the Spurs in Game 4. The writer’s trip has been sponsored by Sony Six.
