The two young guns of Indian badminton, PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal, may be good friends off the court, the same can’t be said when they are battling it out against each other.

Sindhu, 18, who last met Saina, 24, during a tournament in January this year, says there is stiff competition between the two.

"When we are playing a match against each other, we are only competitors. All we think about is how to win the game. On court, there is nothing like she is my senior or something, we are pure rivals. But off the court, we are good friends," says Sindhu.

Does she feel cricket is revered in our country and other sports don’t get their due credit? "Of course cricket is always first but now even badminton is coming up. Especially after the Indian Badminton League last year, the sport is getting good recognition and I hope it gets better and better," says Singh, adding, "Lot of youngsters are coming up in the circuit and I hope there will be further improvement."
