Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter Zara Phillips made a memorable Olympics debut in the individual dressage equestrian event on Sunday, finishing in the top 20.

Phillips, the second child and only daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Mark Phillips, is 14th in the line of succession to the sixteen thrones of the Commonwealth realms.

Princess Anne, husband Mike Tindall and Prince Philip were in attendance as Zara rode in on her horse at the Greenwich Park. She will next be seen in Monday afternoon's cross-country phase.

Zara’s mother is not only president of the British Olympic committee but a member of the International Olympic Committee and a former equestrian eventing Olympian herself.

Anne competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

Zara Phillips was voted 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year by the British viewing public, an award her mother won in 1971.
