The LG Northern India Amateur Championship, which gets underway at the Delhi Golf Club from Tuesday, will be the ideal warm-up event for the Indian contingent to the Nomura Cup, to be held in Seoul from September 15-18.

Defending champion and Order of Merit leader Rashid Khan, Abhishek Jha, Pawan Kumar and Karan Vasudeva, who make up the four-member team, will be competing for top honours.

Rashid, who has gone winless since the Haryana Open Amateur, said: "It all started for me from this tournament and I haven't won any of the three last tournaments, so it is important to make a comeback," he said of the event where he had clinched his maiden title on the LG Indian Amateur Tour.
