London Olympics silver medallist Vijay Kumar, not only decided to participate at the senior National Shooting Championships here, but managed to clinch the gold in the men's rapid fire pistol event. Vijay shot 572 and 25 in the finals.
"It's a very satisfying performance," he said after the win. "Winning a gold in any form is not easy. I was expecting it though because I was in a good form. I didn't want to lose it after winning a medal at the Olympics."
Punjab's Heena Sidhu bagged the gold in the women's air pistol with 383 + 99.5 points in the qualifiers and finals respectively.
Harpreet Singh (569 + 21) of Navy clinched the silver in the men's rapid fire pistol event ahead of Army's Pemba Tamang who shot 572 and 18.
