A CCTV camera helped the police to solve a case in which miscreants had tried to break open an automatic teller machine (ATM) of the State Bank of Patiala installed at Sanghol  on  December 21 night.

Sanghol police chowki incharge Inderjit Singh informed that before making attempt to break open the ATM, two youths Harpreet Singh and Sandeep Singh of a nearby village Panjkoha, withdrew money from their account with their ATM card. The  ATM was installed near the Sanghol branch of the SBoP. They used pipe of a flex board erected near the ATM to break the machine.

They also broke wires of the CCTV camera installed inside the ATM but they could not notice CCTV camera installed outside the ATM. The police had taken services of finger print experts and recorded the statement of bank employees.

After getting video footages from CCTV camera, the police started investigation and nabbed two youth as they were among the prime suspects.

Sources said at the time of incident the bank had not deployed any security guard near the ATM.
