The local police have arrested two men and a woman on the charges of blackmailing and robbing a man of Rs 2.5 lakh on Wednesday.

The complainant, Mohinder Singh, approached police after 22 days of the incident following which the police registered case against the accused -- Khateera, Sukhwinder Singh and Herdev Singh.

Station house officer of Mandi Ahmadgarh police station, Gurpratap Singh said that according to the complaint, Mohinder had given his shop on rent to Khateera at Rs 500 per month in April last year. In January this year, Mohinder asked her many times to vacate his shop as she failed to give for many months.

On January 30, Khateera called Mohinder to collect rent from her. When he reached, Khateera along with the other accused locked him inside the shop and tore his clothes. They asked him to pay Rs 5 lakh to get his shop back or they would slap a false case against him for raping Khateera, the police said. At that time, the accused also made him sign a cheque of Rs 2.5 lakh in favour of Herdev Singh, it is alleged.
