Power engineers under the banner of PSEB Engineers' Association (PSEBEA) on Wednesday held a candle march to protest against the Punjab government's decision to grant a year's extension to PSPCL chairman-cum-managing director KD Chaudhri.
Led by president Baldev Singh Sran and general secretary Sanjiv Sood, hundreds of power engineers held a protest in front of the PSPCL headquarters at Mall Road, and then moved to the other areas. The engineers were carrying the banners that "Government should revert its decision" and "Restore tripartite agreement".
Sran he said that government claims that Chaudhri did a commendable job, whereas the fact is that CMD not only allowed the political interference in day to day working, but also caused loss of ` 2700 crores to the PSPCL, by not guiding the government properly. He alleged that the CMD was pressurizing the engineers to not to join the protest by threatening them of dire consequences. "Engineers deplore the tactics of the CMD and will revolt if he takes any wrong decision against any engineers", announced the PSEBEA.
