Court asks police to protect life and liberty of two couples

The court of sessions judge, Fatehgarh Sahib, has directed police to protect life and liberty of two couples. As per a petition, Sarabjeet Singh, who belongs to Sirhind had married a girl from Urmar in Hoshiarpur district on October 25. Now, they are living in Sirhind, but relatives of the girl are allegedly issuing threats to them. The judge issued directions to the Sirhind SHO to protect life and liberty of the couple. A notice had been issued to the Hoshiapur SSP and others for November 27.

In another case of one Kiranjit Kaur and her husband told the court that they belong to Kanjawali village of Muktsar district and had invoked on the jurisdiction of the local court on the ground that their marriage was performed in a gurdwara at Sirhind and now they are living in Balmik Mandir, Sirhind for the past five-six days. They told the court that father of Kiranjit Kaur was threatening them.

The court observed that there is no serious threat to their lives as they belong to Muktsar and jurisdiction of this court was invoked on account of temporary residence. It directed the Muktsar SHO to protect life and liberty of the couple. If the couple have any problem regarding their safety, they can move complaint before the Muktsar SHO, who will take necessary action.
