A day after Punjab Congress leaders accused Kanwarjit Singh Pehalwan, a close relative of Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, of having links with underworld dons and drug racketeers, the senior Akali leader dismissed the charges as "politically motivated and far from truth."

Talking to media persons in Sunam on Thursday, Dhindsa said, "Kanwarjit Singh ((father-in-law of his son, finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa)) has business in several states of the country but not a single case has been registered against him even in the Congress-ruled states."

However, he expressed willingness to face any probe in this regard."Congress leaders do not have any other issue to raise and are making false allegations against us. As we are clean, we are ready for any probe", added Dhindsa.

Punjab Congress leaders Surinderpal Singh Sibia, Ramesh Singla and Paramjit Singh Randhawa had issued a statement on Wednesday alleging that Pehalwan has links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Maninder Singh Bittu Aulakh, a Youth Akali Dal (YAD) leader, under arrest in Jagdish Bhola drug racket.
