Three days after his arrest, Goraya- based businessman Chunni Lal Gaba (80) was admitted in the government Rajindra hospital following complaint of severe chest pain on Sunday evening.

However, he was discharged on Monday after doctors found his clinical reports satisfactory.

Gaba, a heart patient, was arrested by Patiala police on June 19 along with his son Gurjit Singh alias Monu Gaba due to their alleged involvement in the infamous synthetic drug case.

But, soon after his arrest, he was admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana due to ailing health and later sent to the Patiala jail.

The hospital’s medical superintendent Dr VK Sharda said that Gaba was a heart patient and had gone through angioplasty in 2012.

“He complained of chest pain following which we did several tests, the reports of which were satisfactory. He was discharged and sent back to jail on Monday,” said Sharda.

Chunni Lal, who appeared before the Enforcement Directorate on June 16, is the co-owner of a pharmaceutical unit at Gagret in Himachal Pradesh, where they allegedly used to make pseudoephedrine, a chemical used in illegal synthetic drugs.

Even kingpin of the racket Jagdish Bhola told the ED that Chunni Lal had introduced Delhi-based smuggler Varinder Raja to Damanvir, son of MLA Sarwan Singh Phillaur.
