Punjab education and language minister Sikandar Singh Maluka released the monthly creative booklet published by the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sirhind Mandi, on Monday.
He said that such endeavours to promote the talent of students were highly commendable. He stressed that students needed to develop multifaceted personalities for holistic development.
He advised the principal to attach more importance to extra-curricular activities. This, he said, would equip the student to face the challenges of modern times. Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) education director Dr Dharminder Singh Ubha exhorted the school to focus on developing the creative writing skills of the students, while congratulating the school principal.
The chief editor of the booklet and school principal Jaswant Kaur said that she came across the sensitive issue of women's empowerment and gender bias against them in the writings of the students. She said the Delhi and Patiala sexual assault cases had shamed the Indian society.
The editor of the booklet, Swarnjit Kaur, said that students were highly sensitive and informed about the burning issues of the Indian society and their writings reflected it.
