Fatehgarh Sahib police arrest thieves gang

Police claimed to have seized 10-gm heroin from a youth on Monday. Fatehgarh Sahib superintendent of police (detective) Amarjit Singh said a team of CIA staff, Mandi Gobindgarh led by inspector Daljit Singh during checking arrested a youth Mohit Sharma, a resident of Bhatmajra village near Sirhind and seized 10-gm heroin.

A case under Sections 21, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act was registered against the youth at Sirhind police station.

The SP said police had arrested 11 persons in separate cases. "On a tip-off, we have arrested a seven-member gang, who was chalking out a loot plan armed with weapons near Nabipur village,"he said.

Four police teams were constituted to arrest the gang members -Ranbir Singh of Badochi Khurd village, Vatanvir Singh of Sidhwa village, Manpreet Singh of Madhopur village, Lakhbir Singh of Majri Sodhiya village, Gurpreet Singh of Bhamrasi Jher village, Sukhwinder Singh of Patiala and Tarsem Singh of Badouchi Khurd village (Fatehgarh Sahib).

He said during search of Tarsem Singh, .315 bore country-made pistol and three live cartridges were recovered from him. A case under Sections 25 of Arms Act was registered against the accused.

Police have seized 1,100 tablets of habit forming drugs from Vatandeep Singh and 1,000 tablets from Manpreet Singh and 14-gm smack from Gurpreet Singh. Police have registered separate cases under various sections of the NDPS Act against the accused.

The SP said four stolen motorcycles , iron rod, screw driver, baseball were also recovered from the gang. He said the gang members confessed their involvement in various criminal activities in Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala and Kurukhestra (Haryana).

While giving details of another cases, the SP said a team of CIA staff, Sirhind arrested Manjit Singh alias Raju and Nirdosh Singh, residents of Sirhind and seized 500 gm opium from them.

A team of Mandi Gobindgarh police have arrested Manpreet Singh of Turan village and seized 1,100 tablets of habit forming drugs. A case under various sections of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused.
