Upset over being ignored in the selection of candidates, the BJP will oppose the SAD, its ruling partner, in each block samiti election in Nabha assembly constituency.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is annoyed that the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) constituency in-charge, Makhan Singh Lalka, has declared candidates for every block samiti seat without consulting it. “Not even a single seat has been given to us," BJP state secretary Gurtej Singh Dhillon on Saturday said here. "We might be junior partner in the alliance but we'll not bear this. We'll take on the SAD nominees on all seats.”

The BJP might be contesting just one seat (Rajpura) in Patiala but it had enough weight in the district to pull down the SAD. On Saturday, Dhillon also led a party delegation to chief minister Parkash Singh Badal at Rakhra village, where the CM asked rural development minister Surjit Singh Rakhra to redress the dispute.

“All leaders of the alliance partner should be satisfied in the elections," said the CM. "This issue will also be addressed, don’t worry.” Sikander Singh Maluka, in charge of the SAD affairs in Patiala, also has received the BJP's complaint. Later, the alliance had a meeting in Patiala, in which both parties from Nabha failed to reach a consensus.

“Nabha is the only seat where we have this problem," said Dhillon. "In every other place in Patiala, we have got our due share. If the SAD stands by its list, we'll not let it win.”

BJP state president Kamal Sharma was information of the issue. In spite of repeated comments, he was unavailable for comments.
