Senior IAS officer and director general of school education Kahan Singh Pannu is getting support by writers. Bhai Ghaniya Seva Society in collaboration with Punjabi Sahitya Akademi is organizing a 'Kabi Darbar' on July 13 at Sirhind in his honour.

Candle marches were conducted in his favour as he was beaten up recently during official duty in Uttarakhand.

Writer and an organizer of the function Sant Singh Sohal said, "Pannu will be honoured for outstanding contribution in educational reforms. We organize a 'kabi darbar' annually. We have invited the patron of Panjabi Sath, Nirmal Singh Lambran; president of Punjabi Sahitya Akademi, Gurbhajan Singh Gill; former president of Kendri Punjabi Lekhari Sabha, Prof Anup Virk and eminent writer Surjit Singh Marjara. The well-known punjabi poet Surjit Pattar will be the guest of honour."

Pannu was involved in a controversy with the Punjab education minister Sikander Singh Maluka.
