Traffic jams have become order of the day at the chowk, which is close to the district administrative complex.

Though traffic police have been deputed on duty there, but they too are helpless due to non-functional traffic lights.

Even though many politicians and officers regularly pass through the chowk, but no one ever cared to get the traffic lights repaired, claimed a shopkeeper, adding that lives of students were at risk.

Hundreds of students of Mata Gujri College, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Mata Gujri Senior Secondary School, Baba Zorawar Singh Senior Secondary Public School, Ashoka Senior Secondary School, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Polytechnic College pass through the chowk everyday.

Not only students, but private and government employees have to reach Civil Hosptial, district administrative complex; Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdwara Jyoti Swarup, Roza Sharif Sirhind also take to the route.
