After the complaints about alleged violation of the election code, deputy commissioner GK Singh has directed returning officers of nine assembly election segments in Patiala district to remain cautious and to tighten noose on the violators.

Chairing a meeting of officials involved in the election process, Singh instructed expenditure monitoring experts and media certification and monitoring committees to remain vigilant against the alleged violations.

He said three teams of flying squads had been constituted under each returning officer which will monitor the election process minutely. Police security will be given to the teams to ensure their safety.

Senior superintendent of police Hardial Singh Mann said the members of flying squad should have identification cards with them, while police teams accompanying them will immediate swing into action against violators.

He said two teams of the Centre Industrial Security Force (CISF) has reached Patiala district to maintain law and order across the district, while 13 more teams would arrive in coming days.

Meanwhile, he instructed arms licence holders to deposit their arms and ammunition till March 26.
