Junior engineers working in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) staged protest rallies on Thursday in front of all zonal headquarters to press their demands. They threatened to go on a 'lightning strike' if their demands are not met soon.

A massive rally was held in front of office of chief engineer, south zone Shakti Vihar, Patiala, where the junior engineers criticised the management, accusing it for delay in revision of their pay grade.

Davinder Singh, general secretary of junior engineers' council , while addressing the gathering, said that there is an inordinate delay in the revision of pay grade and time-bound promotional scales relating to power Junior engineers in the light of pay revision made by the state government from December 2011.

The council leaders also contended that when senior  XENs can be posted as deputy secretaries/services personnel and on technical and other posts, why the junior engineers can not be posted as zone superintendents in technical, personal, establishment, confirmation and secret sections.

They also demanded enhancement in promotion quota from junior engineers to other higher ranks.

"In case these pending issues remain unresolved, junior engineers will be compelled to go on a lightning strike and a notice in this regard has already been served to the PSPCL management,"  said a press release issued by the council.
