Raid on school for special kids, packets of expired juice seized

The district health department conducted a surprise raid on Navjivani School for Special Children at the Sular road here on Monday and seized thousands of packets of expired fruit juice from its stores.

The team collected five samples of these expired juices and samples of food items.

Patiala civil surgeon Dr HS Bali said they received a complaint regarding the availability of expired juice in the school following which they conducted a raid and found that around 150 cartons of juice were lying in two stores.

"The date of manufacturing was June 2013 and had expired about two months back. We will send the collected samples to a Chandigarh laboratory for testing. We also destroyed expired juice packets," he said.

Presently, 175 students are admitted to the school out of which 43 students are inhabitants of the hostel.
