Upset over alleged 'inaction' by local authorities against three employees of the Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital for their alleged continuous indiscipline and involvement in political activities, All Employees Co-Ordination Committee has written to chief minister Parkash Singh Badal to demand disciplinary action.

In their complaint, the committee members alleged that lab attendants Kamal Gill, Kesar Singh and Gurmukh Singh have allegedly been involved in blackmailing senior officials and contractual staff on the behest of local political leaders.

Committee zonal general secretary Ved Prakash said while several complaints were filed against these employees, the hospital authorities failed to take any action.

“Various inquiry committees have found that Kesar Singh submitted a false Class 10 certificate, but no action has been initiated against him. He is presently working as a laboratory technician in one of the departments,” he alleged.

“Another employee, Kamal Gill, was accused of harassing woman employees in the hospital, and one of them lodged a complaint against him with the local police. He used to blackmail employees who approached him to get their jobs regularised,” he added.

He also alleged that Gurmukh Singh was working as ward attendant in the eye department, though he was recruited as a watchman.

However, college principal Dr KD Singh claimed he had not received any written complaint.

“If any complaint is received in the coming days, strict action would be initiated,” he said, adding that he could not give any details without reading the complaint.
