Three youths were reportedly injured when a group of anti-socials hurled bombs near NIT College under Pirbahore police station on Wednesday. Police said the incident took place when members of two puja committees clashed over immersion of the idol of Goddess Sarswati.

They exploded at least four bombs, which created panic among the devotees as well as the locals. Police later picked up a youth, Santosh Kumar, from the spot. As the news of his arrest spread, people of Sultanganj blocked the Ashok Rajpath and disrupted vehicular traffic.

The road blockade was lifted only after the release of Kumar from police custody. Pirbahore SHO A S Hashmi said the situation was under control.

Protest against murder

Khagaul residents blocked the Bypass road for nearly an hour on Wednesday to protest the killing of a student, Sudhir Kumar. The body of Kumar, a class X student of a local school, was found near Khagaul lake on Wednesday. The agitators raised slogans against the incident. They blocked the road demanding that a case be lodged in this connection.
