Omprakash Paswan, 39, an assistant sub-inspector at Krishnagarh police station in Bhojpur district, shot himself dead with his service revolver on Friday morning.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Sanjay Kumar said, “The reason for the suicide is not known immediately, though investigations are on.”
Paswan, hailing from Khagaria but a resident of Narain Colony in Munger, is said to have received a call, which his colleagues said, could have been from home.
“It seems his wife had called and he suddenly became angry and tense. Some words were exchanged. Moments later, he went into a room in the thana and shot himself.”
“Some family issue may have been at the root of the suicide, though not much is known,” the colleagues said.
They denied stress at the workplace or harassment by superiors as the cause of suicide.
