Authorities of a Bihar engineering college have imposed a fine of Rs.20,000 on a student and have withdrawn his scholarship for ragging freshers, an official said on Wednesday.

Bhagalpur engineering college administration imposed a fine on Indrajeet Kumar and withdrew his scholarship and hostel facility after he was found involved in ragging freshers, acting principal of the college B.K. Choudhary said.

Indrajeet is a second year student of computer science in the college in Bhagalpur district.

In another engineering college in Muzaffarpur district, the Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology, police have lodged a complaint against three students for ragging and assaulting a fresher.

The institute's acting principal A.K. Mishra said second year students forced new girl students to kiss boys as part of ragging and thrashed a student who opposed them.
