Urban development minister Prem Kumar has asked the departmental secretary to sort out the issues cropping up in faster execution of 38 water supply projects in the capital region by Bihar Rajya Jal Parshad (BRJP).
The scheme, which was transferred to BRJP in October 2011, could not take off despite availability of funds and identification of land for the purpose. The BRJP was supposed to complete the project by March this year. However, it has just begun the process of inviting the tender for commissioning of work.
The minister sought personal involvement of departmental secretary S Siddharth for implementation of the project, which was originally sanctioned by the government in April 2010, in course of his inspection of various water stations in the state capital on Wednesday.
Previously, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) was assigned the task. But, the project was handed over to BRJP after the PMC could not launch the project after the lapse of 15 months. I have categorically directed the secretary to ensure installation of all 38 water supply projects in the next six months, the minister said.
Expressing annoyance over lackadaisical approach in readying the water installations before the onset of summer, the minister directed the officials of BRJP to operationalise the pumping station in Police Colony at the earliest. The installation is ready to feed water for the last couple of years, but it remains non-functional due to minor technical problems.
