The police today used water canons and mild force to prevent the activists of LJP students' Wing from marching to gherao the state legislative assembly to press for the state government to hold elections to students' wings in universities in Bihar.

Hundreds of activists of LJP's student wing gathered near R-block round about here and tried to break the fence to force their way into the state assembly in support of the demand.

The police soon arrived and used mild force and used water cannons to stop them from marching to gherao the assembly when they threw stones, the police sources said.

Meanwhile LJP chief Ramvilas Paswan went to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) to meet the party activists allegedly injured in the police action.
