Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee

In the run up to the high voltage elections, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) has taken to high-tech mode to bolster its presence among the state’s electorate.

With a view to catching up with youths craze for social media, the party on Tuesday launched a mobile app, christened ‘BPCC’, to secure better connect with its leaders and followers.

The app, which can be downloaded from mobile play store, has been designed to disseminate latest information about activities and get feedbacks from the field about rival party leaders and their programmes.

A team of information technology experts led by Pradip Kumar Choudhary will handle the IT war room of the BPCC and generate content to empower party workers at the grassroots to counter the ‘misleading’ information being propagated by rival party leaders through social media like facebook, whatsapp and twitter.

The app was launched at a function held at Sadaquat Ashram by Congress party leader in legislative council Madan Mohan Jha in presence of other senior leaders, including former MLA Harkhu Jha.

The party has already undertaken a major exercise to set up and strengthen IT cells across all districts with hub at the BPCC office. The local cells would also general generate social media contents on party activities, which would in turn be uploaded through centralised server on the app.

So far IT cells have been made operational at 13 out of 38 districts.

Jha said the app contained different sections for different purposes. “Anyone can share photos, text or video with those who have downloaded the app. It will have a list of the party’s achievements since Independence and future strategy to reach out to the masses,” said Jha.

IT experts roped in to manage the party’s war room would also keep track of social media messages circulated by rival parties and launch counter attacks to negate their impact on electorate’s mind. They will analyse the reach and activities of messages through google analytics and device ways to counter them.
