A day after the arrest of the son-in-law and grandson of former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi in connection with the alleged murder of his granddaughter-in-law, police on Wednesday stepped up efforts to nab three others in the case.
The former chief minister had to face awkward situations many times in the past due to his family members, the last being when his younger son Praveen was caught with cashduring assembly elections.
Manjhi on Wednesday said the law would take its own course. “Whoever has committed the crime will face the music. The culprits should not be spared.”
Gaya SSP Garima Malik said Manjhi’s grandson Vikki Manjhi and his father Yogendra Manjhi were arrested and charged with the murder of Vikki’s wife Soni Devi, 25, on last Saturday.
Malik said Soni Devi was allegedly murdered at her husband’s home in Gaya and was cremated at Vishnupad Ghat. Though Yogendra Manjhi termed Soni’s death as suicide, lack of information regarding cremation has increased trouble for the Manjhi family.
