Daughter-in-law files complaint against Bihar RSS leader

patna Updated: Apr 24, 2007 09:46 IST

A complaint under the Domestic Violence Act against a noted RSS leader by his grand daughter-in-law was on Monday admitted by a court here with the complainant accusing her husband and other family members of torturing her for giving to a girl instead of a boy.

The petition filed by Sonali Singh, grand daughter-in-law of RSS stalwart in Bihar Krishna Ballabh Singh, on Saturday was admitted by Chief Judicial Magistrate Sushma Sinha as a prima facie case of violation of the Act was made out and transferred for hearing tomorrow by the court of a second class judicial magistrate Bharat Singh.

Sonali, a former teacher of Delhi Public School here, in her petition filed under various sections of Domestic Violence Act, alleged she was "tortured for giving birth to a girl instead of a boy" by her husband and in-laws.

She named 12 persons in complaint including her husband Anand Prakash Narayan Singh alias Roshan, mother-in-law Shashi Singh and other family members.

"They (in-laws) have strong dislike for a girl child," she alleged in her complaint and charged that she had to leave the house late in the night on April 18 when her in-laws did not participate in her daughter's birthday celebration saying only a son's birthday is usually celebrated.

When contacted, the RSS leader Krishna Ballabh Singh denied the allegations and said he was not even aware of any complaint in the court.
