Gang running guessing centres busted

The Danapur police on Sunday busted a gang involved in running guessing centres at several places in Danapur sub-division. Although, police arrested two persons, three others managed to escape.

Station House Officer of Danapur police station, Dilip Kumar, said the arrested persons were identified as Rinku Kumar and Asmad Khan. They were arrested on the charge of running a guessing centre. However, three others—Gorkha, Guddu and Chandmiya—said to be the masterminds of the gang, escaped.

Police sources said the arrested persons confessed their crime and said they ran the guessing centres allegedly with the help of PS munshi and some bodyguards of some police officers.

Elephant, four camels seized : The Bahadurpur police seized one elephant and four camels from an immersion procession of Goddess Saraswati being taken to Bhadra Ghat by some students of Saidpur Hostel. Station House Officer of Bahadurpur police station Sanjeev Kumar said the animals were seized as precaution. The district administration had earlier prohibited animals in immersion processions, he added.
