The Patna high court issued arrest warrants against vice-chancellors and other officials of Lalit Narayan Mishra University (LNMU) and B N Mandal University (BNMU) in a contempt case against them.

Justice JN Singh issued the warrants against the vice-chancellor, registrar and finance officials of LNMU situated in Darbhanga and the vice-chancellor and registrar of BNMU at Madhepura in the contempt petitions filed against them for non-compliance of the court order for payment of salaries and arrears to the petitioners.

Taking serious view of the non-appearance, the court asked the respondents why they should not be punished for contempt of court. Md Ashraft and four lecturers of LNMU and Pramod Kumar, a staff of BNMU had filed contempt petitions against the authorities of their respective universities for the failure to release their salaries and arrears in spite of the earlier order of the high court.
