Junior doctors strike at IGIMS in Patna

patna Updated: Jun 09, 2009 16:42 IST

Junior doctors at the premier Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science (IGIMS) on Tuesday went on strike strike over alleged autocratic attitude of the hospital authorities.

The doctors shouted slogans and demonstrated before the main building of the hospital.“We are being insulted and humiliated every day by the authorities, including IGIMS Director Dr Arun Kumar in presence of our subordinates and para-medics,” Dr Pradip Jaiswal, representative of the IGIMS Senior Residents’ Association told PTI.

He alleged that emergency services lacked ‘basic facilities´ which made them face the ire of attendants of patients frequently.

He demanded that they be provided facilities on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
