The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Thursday released its list of 181 office bearers, but only 11 women could make it to the top posts in the party hierarchy.
While the RJD has nominated Prema Choudhary among 21 vice-presidents, three women -- Kiran Devi, Yogmaya Mandal and Seva Yadav -- were among 73 general secretaries, as per the list released by party's Chief General Secretary Ram Kripal Yadav at a press conference in Patna.
Seven others were appointed as secretaries.
Yadav, however, defended the "poor" representation of women saying, "the party has accommodated all sections of the society and a balance has been sought to be ensured in terms of the regional and caste-based representation ahead of the forthcoming assembly polls."
The issue would be dealt with during distribution of tickets in the assembly polls, he said.
Party chief Lalu Prasad has convened a meeting of office bearers on June 5 to chalk out its electoral strategies.
