The Congress is set to intensify its campaign for party nominees contesting the assembly elections with a string of public meetings by its star campaigners, including All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi, from October 3.
Sonia is slated to launch her election meeting from Kahalgaon, where Congress Legislature Party leader Sadanand Singh is in fray in a bid to retain the seat, while Rahul is likely to begin his election tour to the state from October 8.
Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) president Ashok Choudhary said the party had urged Sonia Gandhi to visit the state at least thrice during the elections and address six public meetings.
Similarly, Rahul Gandhi has been requested to visit the poll-bound state at least four times and address as many as 12 meetings.
“Other star campaigners, including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, senior party leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, CP Joshi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Digvijaya Singh, Raj Babbar, besides a host of other leaders will also be there,” said Choudhary, while talking to mediapersons here on Thursday.
