Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Monday said that the party would observe three day's mourning following former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu's death.
The elections of the party's national president has been deferred from Tuesday to January 23, party sources said.
Talking to reporters here, Returning Officer for the election to the post of RJD president, Jagdanand Singh, MP, said, "RJD was in deep shock because of the death of the veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu."
"We have declared mourning for three days," he said, adding the elections to the party's national presidency was being deferred from January 19 to January 23.
"The party and its leaders also condole the death of Basu," he said.
