State Capital to have 5 SPs

Now Patna will have five Superintendents of Police including three City SPs to contain crime and maintain law and order.

Now Patna will have five Superintendents of Police (SPs), including three City SPs to contain crime and maintain law and order.

The government on Tuesday posted Ajit K Rai as the first SP (East). Rai was earlier posted with the State Vigilance Investigation Bureau as deputy SP. The post of SP (West) will be filled up soon. Anwar Hussain is already holding the charge of City SP (Town).

Besides, there already are two other SPs—-SP (rural) and SP (traffic). All the five SPs will work under the Senior SP, Patna, who has been made overall in-charge of the capitall’s law and order.

Additional Director General (headquarters) Neelmani said the exercise was aimed at toning up the police machinery in the state capital. The post of Staff Officers, similar to the SP rank, has also been created for the purpose.

While Sridhar Mandal, DSP (Sachivalaya), has been posted as Staff Officer, IG office, Patna, Jagdish Kumar Pal, SDPO, Phulparas, has been asked to assume charge at IG office, Bhagalpur. Similarly, Mitthu Prasad, who was earlier holding the charge of DSP (rail), Kiul, has been posted as the Staff Officer at ADG office, Darbhanga and Gariban Ram, SDPO, Bagaha at ADG office, Muzaffarpur.

Seven DSPs posted in the state capital for over three years have been given the marching orders. DSP (law and order) Kumar Amar Singh goes as DSP (administration), Zonal IG, Patna. DSP (Sadar) Vivekanand Mandal, has been posted as SDPO (Sadar), Begusarai.

DSP (Sadar), Begusarai, Pankaj Kumar will replace Vivekanand Mandal. DSP, Masaurhi, Sushil Kumar has been transferred to Benipatti. SDPO, Dalsingsarai, Vijay Kumar Verma replaces Sushil. Jamalpur SDPO Arvind Thakur has been posted as SDPO, Paliganj replacing Mohammad Rahman, who has been promoted to the rank of SP.

Shailesh Kumar Sinha, who was posted as SDPO, Madhepura will be the new DSP (law and order), Patna. Rajesh Kumar, SDPO, Lakhisarai, has been made DSP (Sachivalaya). Rajendra Singh, DSP (rail), Gaya has been made DSP (headquarters), Patna while C P Vidyarthi, DSP (headquarters), Patna goes to BMP-16. Sudhir Kumar Singh, DSP, BMP-16 will be the new DSP, Sachivalaya security.
