Two acid attack victims are struggling for their life in the emergency ward of Patna Medical College and Hospital. They were referred to the PMCH from Nawada sadar hospital in a critical condition.

As per reports, two youths of their locality had poured acid on their faces while they were sleeping in the house in Pachrukhi bazaar area under Akbarpur police station of Nawada district.

Pirbahore SHO Nishar Ahmad said, “The critically injured girls are undergoing treatment at the PMCH. I have deputed some policemen to take their statements.”

The incident took place on midnight Sunday when Soni Praveen (18) and Afsari (12) were asleep in their rooms. Their father Gayasuddin was also sleeping near their room. Two local youths entered their room and poured acid on their faces.

As the girls screamed for help, Gayasuddin saw the two accused, Mohammad Ehsan and Mohammad Belal, escaping, said a police officer.

Police said Gayasuddain chased them but the miscreants managed to escape. The Nawada police had taken the statement of the girls before shifting them to Patna.

In course of investigation, it came to light that both the accused had gathered information about the girls on Saturday and executed the incident next day.

Akbarpur police station SHO Ranjit Kumar said prima facie it appeared to be a case of one sided love affair. One of the girls was to be married soon. A massive hunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
