Maoists abducted two persons, including a village council member, from a village in Jamui district and killed them in a nearby forest, the police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, a group of armed guerillas belonging to the outlawed CPI (Maoist) raided Rajaun village late on Monday and kidnapped primary agricultural cooperative society member Vishnudeo Yadav and village council member Arjun Paswan.

The two, who were suspected to be police informers, were later killed at a jan adalat (people’s court) organised in the forests of Kherha hill.

In a statement, the CPI(Maoist) owned responsibility for the murders.
