In 2013, selfie or “a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website” was named word of the year by the editors of Oxford Dictionaries. However, even before the world caught on and it became a part of popular culture, several variations of the term started doing the rounds. A year on, as the felfie, or the inked finger selfie, becomes a rage this Lok Sabha elections, we look at some break-out hashtags that still continue to trend.
#helfie: The idea behind this one is to get the world to notice your new hairdo, colour change or perfect blow-dry by focusing on that luscious mane. And if the number of images doing the rounds is any indicator, this one will be around for a while.
