Archana Puran Singh: My younger brother, Sandeep, stays in Dehradun. He is my closest sibling. As a kid, he would strongly protest the brother-sister festivals as they involved brothers giving money to sisters. I remember he would sulk, wouldn’t let us do the puja and always ask, ‘Why do I have to always give her money? Why don’t the girls give their brothers money?’ As I was always protective of my baby bro, I would do away with the Rakhi and Bhai Dooj rituals, just to see him smile. (As told to Kavita Awaasthi)
