The rain will be here soon, which means that many of your favourite clothes may have to retreat to the back of the wardrobe. But dressing for the rain need not be a staid affair. Designers will tell you that there’s plenty of scope for staying trendy this monsoon. Sonya Vajifdar, who designs raincoats for Vemb, has introduced trench, poncho and bubble raincoats. “The trench is traditionally double-breasted, and has a sash, making it easy to wear. Transparent ponchos with a sequinned pocket and/or hood are in this season. As for bubble raincoats, the skirt has a bubble shape, so that the water rolls off without touching one’s feet,” she says, recommending pop colours like blue, yellow and bright pink.
