Smoke rises from the chimneys of traditional wooden houses as air temperatures reached minus 30 degrees Celsius (minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit) in the village of Sliznevo, outside Russia's Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk. A cold spell in central and eastern parts of Russia has led to temperatures dropping to minus 50 degrees Celsius (minus 58 degrees Fahrenheit) in some parts. (Reuters)
