A high-level government officer from land acquisition department and a computer operator were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at 5:30 pm on Thursday in Pune for accepting bribe. The officer, arrested through a trap was identified as Dhanaji Patil, who demanded bribe in order to transfer money to the 63-year-old complainant’s account. The computer operator was identified as Sanjay Pandhurang More, 46. Patil was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 1.25 lakh at the new government administration building in the city. The complainant in the case had sold 18 guntha (approximately 0.5 acre) land in Hosewadi area of Khed to the government for road widening. The land was acquired by the government for Rs 83 lakh. Patil had asked for Rs 1.25 lakh as bribe in order to give the money to the complainant.
Man trying to kill himself saved by fire brigade
Jeevan Bapu Mane, a 24-year-old resident of Aundh, jumped into the Mula river on Thursday evening. The fire brigade employees arrived on time and saved his life. The incident took place around 4 pm. The youngster had jumped off the bridge near D-Mart in Aundh after a fight with family members, according to the fire department. However, he got stuck in the thick garbage floating on the waters and the fire brigade staff were able to rescue him. He was later rushed to Aundh government hospital.
Three booked after labourer falls to death on construction site
Three people were booked in a case for causing death of a labourer due to negligence on Wednesday. On Sunday, around 12:30 pm, Dhanesh Devnath Singh, 30, fell from the fourth floor of the construction site of KK Sri Ram Construction in Rahatni. Singh lived in the labour camp set by the construction company, according to the police. The owner of the site, the contractor and the sub-contractor were booked but are yet to be arrested. A case under Section 304(a) for causing death due to negligence under IPC was registered at Wakad police station against the three.
