An inter-school awareness festival, Environment Theatre Festival 2017, is calling students to participate in Pune’s Green Festival which is dedicated towards fostering ownership for the environment among school students.

Organised by Tree Public and We The Artists, it is a festival that helps raise awareness about environment issues and gives an opportunity to students to voice their ideas and thoughts through the medium of art. This festival will be held at Pt Bhimsen Joshi Kalamandir, Pune on November 25. Each participating school will go through a selection round where they get a chance to showcase their performance on stage in the span of maximum 20 minutes on the central theme. The participation for performances will be under two categories – Standard 1-4 and Standard 5-8. Each school can participate in any one category and can have one performance.

The theme of this year’s ETF is ‘Water and its importance in our daily life’. Abhishek Kawitkar, founder-director, Tree Public, says, “This festival is specially designed for school students with the aim to raise awareness about environmental issues in a creative way which can reach out to the maximum number of people. More than 50 schools will be participating this year including the corporation schools of Pune, along with the various theatre artists as mentors. Tree Public will be conducting this festival in association with our CSR partner – Cummins India Foundation.”

At ETF, students are encouraged to explore various art forms and expand their creativity as they are responsible for all aspects of theatre production including music, stage management and set design using only recyclable materials.

The festival is also inviting theatre mentors, theatre enthusiasts and short film makers, who can come be a part of the mentoring team to impart theatrical skills into these wonderful raw students eager to learn theatre drama and other presentation skills.
