Khairnar's body had remained unidentified until 3 pm, when his college friend , who also works in Pune, rushed to Narayangaon and identified the body. "I had just woken up when I got a call. I could not wait for a bus, so I started on my motorbike and reached the hospital around 3pm," said Pankaj Baldi, who studied with the deceased man. Both of them had completed their MBA together from a college in Hadapsar, said Pankaj as he reminisced their college days.

Khairnar had come to Satana last Tuesday to drop his wife at her mother's house, Pankaj added. "We had recently planned to meet, but couldn't," he said.A double major with a Masters degree in commerce as well as business administration, Khairnar had also cleared SET and NET examinations, his friend said with pride.

His relatives arrived and claimed the mortal remains, which was then taken to Satana.

The young man was survived by a mother, wife, a married sister and an elder brother, according to his friend. Only last year, on July 10, 2016, had Khairnar married his wife Deepali, who is a housewife. While his elder brother is a tailor, Vinay was the only person in the family with a permanent job, Pankaj added.

His distant relatives, including two of his cousins, claimed his mortal remains from the hospital and decided to meet his family members, who had left from Satana, midway.
